Foot & Ankle Care
Achilles Tendonitis
Achilles tendonitis is inflammation of the large tendon connecting your calf muscles to the heel bone. It is common in runners and active adults who increase their activity too quickly, and it typically causes stiffness and aching just above the heel that is worse in the morning or after exercise.
Dr. Stephens evaluates the tendon with a hands-on exam and onsite imaging when needed, then builds a treatment plan that may include activity modification, stretching and physical therapy, supportive footwear or orthotics, and other conservative measures. When appropriate, advanced options are available to relieve persistent pain and restore strength.
